People planning to visit the Mission Creek Greenway on Tuesday may need to adjust their plans. The popular Truswell Road parking lot will be closed for the entire day to allow workers to repaint the parking spaces.

The lot is located at the western end of the Greenway, near Okanagan Lake. It is one of the most-used access points for walkers, joggers, and cyclists.

The Regional District has confirmed that the closure is temporary and only affects the parking area. The trail itself will remain open throughout the day.

The parking lot will reopen early Wednesday morning, once the work is complete and the paint has dried. In the meantime, visitors are asked to use other entry points to access the trail.

Many people use the Truswell Road lot due to its easy access and close location to both the water and downtown areas. With this lot closed for the day, other nearby parking areas may be busier than usual.

To avoid delays or full lots, trail users should plan ahead and check for other access points. A full list of parking areas along the Greenway is available online. These options make it easy to still enjoy the scenic path without major changes to your routine.

The Mission Creek Greenway stretches for over 16 kilometers, offering natural beauty, fresh air, and a well-maintained trail surface. It is a favorite spot for outdoor activity and often sees high foot traffic, especially in the summer months.

This type of maintenance work is part of the district’s regular efforts to keep public spaces clean and safe. Painting parking lines helps keep the lot organized and makes the space easier to use for everyone.

Officials suggest giving yourself a bit of extra time if you are heading to the trail on Tuesday. Some alternative parking areas may be harder to spot or may require a short walk to reach the trail.

Visitors are reminded not to park in closed sections or block nearby roads or driveways. Doing so can cause traffic issues or lead to fines.

If you normally start your Greenway visit from the Truswell lot, consider exploring a new section of the trail. Other access points offer quiet routes, shaded areas, and different views of the creek and surrounding trees.

The weather forecast for Tuesday is expected to be dry and mild, making it a good day to enjoy time outdoors. With the trail still open, this minor disruption should not prevent anyone from enjoying the Greenway.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on park news through the regional district’s website or social media channels. These platforms provide the latest updates on maintenance, trail conditions, and public notices.

As always, trail users are asked to follow trail rules, share space respectfully, and pack out any litter to help keep the area clean for everyone.

The district appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation during the short closure. The fresh paint will improve safety and clarity, ensuring a better parking experience in the future.

Whether you are heading out for a morning jog, an afternoon walk, or a peaceful bike ride, the Greenway is still ready to welcome you—just with a small detour.
